Liverpool given two huge injury scares ahead of Man City clash

Liverpool are in action against Sparta Prague in the Europa League.

Liverpool have been given two huge injury scares ahead of their Premier League clash against Manchester City.

On Thursday evening, Liverpool travelled to the Czech Republic to take on Sparta Prague in the Europa League round of 16.

Jurgen Klopp’s men raced to a 3-0 half-time lead thanks to a brace from Darwin Nunez and a goal by Alexis Mac Allister.

However, Liverpool were given two injury scares after Joe Gomez was replaced by Conor Bradley at the start of the second half.

Meanwhile, defender Ibrahima Konate went down injured and was taken off for Virgil van Dijk with 50 minutes on the clock.

Frenchman Konate seemed to pull up with what appears to be a possible muscle problem.

Whilst the reason for Gomez’s substitution is currently unknown, Liverpool fans will be worried the Englishman could have been injured.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: “Gomez off, Bradley og and now Konate on the floor wtf is going on.”

Another tweeted: “Konate going off and Gomez injury rumours RIGHT BEFORE CITY.”

A third fan added: “ Gomez and Konate injured. No backup CB available we are so f**ked.”

Over the last few weeks, Liverpool have been hit with an injury crisis. Key players such as Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones are all set to be out until the end of the March.

Meanwhile, the likes of Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago Alcantara have been missing for the majority of the season.

With Liverpool still fighting in the Premier League, Europa League and the FA Cup, Klopp will hope to have more players back as soon as possible.

After their outing in Prague on Thursday, the Reds will welcome City to Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

By the time that match kicks off, Liverpool could find themselves in second place if Arsenal win against Brentford on Saturday.
