Liverpool next manager odds: Man Utd target among favourites to replace Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will leave Anfield at the end of the 23/24 season.

A Manchester United target is among the favourites to replace Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager.

Last week, the world of football was shaken to its core after it was confirmed that Klopp will leave his role as Liverpool manager at the end of the current campaign.

In an emotional video posted on the club’s social media platforms, the German said he was ‘running out of energy’ and ‘cannot do the job again and again and again’.

Since the news broke, former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso became the bookies’ favourite to take over due to his impressive work at German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen.

Aside from Alonso, the likes of Roberto De Zerbi, Julian Nagelsmann, Ange Postecoglou and Ruben Amorim have also been linked with the Anfield job.

Sporting Lisbon boss Amorim was once linked with the United job when the pressure mounted on Erik ten Hag.

Explaining his decision to step away from the club, Klopp said: “It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy. I have no problem now, obviously, I knew it already for longer that I will have to announce it at one point, but I am absolutely fine now. I know that I cannot do the job again and again and again and again.

“After the years we had together and after all the time we spent together and after all the things we went through together, the respect grew for you, the love grew for you and the least I owe you is the truth – and that is the truth.”
