Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has created another piece of Premier League history in the first half of the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

Everton took a surprise 1-0 lead 11 minutes into Wednesday night's clash after a smart free-kick routine saw Beto race in behind and slot past Alisson Becker to send the iconic stadium into raptures.

But the league leaders weren't behind for long as just five minutes later, Alexis Mac Allister produced an outrageous header past Jordan Pickford to level matters.

Salah provided a delightful cross from the right flank, with Mac Allister arriving late in the box and glancing the ball in at the far post.

And in supplying a career-best 14th assist, Salah has now added another Premier League record to his ever-growing collection.

The Egyptian sensation, who is out of contract in the summer, has now become the first player in Premier League history to be directly involved in 22 away goals in a single campaign.

Salah has been in fine form on the road, with 13 goals and nine assists in 13 games.

As highlighted by Squawka, the previous record was held by legendary striker Andy Cole, who contributed to 21 goals for Newcastle in the 1993/94 season.

But Salah quickly moved to 22 by scoring Liverpool's second goal against Everton.

There are still plenty of games left for Salah to add to his tally in what may well turn out to be his best individual season in a Liverpool shirt since signing from Roma in 2017.

Salah is the Premier League's top assist maker this season, with Bukayo Saka and Antonee Robinson closest to him with 10 apiece - and in all competitions the former Chelsea man has a staggering 49 goal contributions.

Former Liverpool teammate lifts lid on Salah's contract

Liverpool risk losing Salah, along with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk for free in the summer and Dejan Lovren, a friend and former Reds teammate of the 32-year-old's, has explained why he hasn't signed on the dotted line yet.

"Salah believes that there are things missing from the club's side, and I hope it will be resolved soon. But the current reality is that he is closer to leaving than staying," he told WinWin.

"I came to the conclusion that the club doesn't respect him enough, or not as much as he thinks he deserves, but that's another side of the conversation, it's all about what's going on behind the scenes.

"He loves Liverpool, by the way he loves Liverpool a lot, and he wants to stay, and that's the most important part, maybe he sees himself retiring there."
