Liverpool fans fuming after player admits he has 'dreamt' of playing for another club

They will not be happy.

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate admitted he can imagine playing for Paris Saint-Germain one day.

After Neymar Jr and Lionel Messi’s relatively disappointing spells in Paris, PSG have shifted their transfer policy to one that focuses on recruiting young French talent.

France's Randal Kolo Muani, Lucas Hernandez and Ousmane Dembele were all among a spate of glitzy summer signings, while Warren Zaïre-Emery looks to be the future of both his club and national side.

And Liverpool star Konate, a key player for Didier Deschamps' Les Bleus, admitted that he has also dreamed of playing for the Ligue 1 giants, though stressed it was not among his current priorities.

When asked whether he ever dreamt of playing for PSG Konate told Canal+: "If I said no, I’d be lying, but if you’re asking, is it one of my objectives? Not at all.”

Konate did laud PSG’s transfer strategy, however, stating that it would build better harmony inside the squad and could also serve Les Bleus well.

On the Parisians' player recruitment, the defender said: "PSG has made sure to recruit players who understand each other well and who play with each other for the France national team.

“Even for the people and the Parisian fans, it makes them happy.

“It’s what they’ve been waiting for for years, having Parisian players or at least French players in the team."

While domestic dominance has been more or less a given over the past decade, the Champions League has eluded PSG, and like every season, the onus is on the Luis Enrique to deliver this term.

Les Parisiens are currently second in Ligue 1 with 24 points from 11 games, one point adrift of league leaders Nice.

However, Enrique's men are leading Group F in the Champions League, having claimed six points from three games.
