Liverpool fans call for shock manager to replace Jurgen Klopp after title setback

Liverpool fans call for shock manager to replace Jurgen Klopp after title setback

Liverpool’s Premier League title bid was dented by Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Liverpool fans have called for a surprise name to replace Jurgen Klopp after their latest title setback.

On Sunday afternoon, Liverpool had the chance to regain top spot as they welcomed Crystal Palace to Anfield ahead of Arsenal’s match against Aston Villa.

However, the Reds produced yet another dismal performance as Palace came away 1-0 winners thanks to Eberechi Eze’s goal in the 14th minute.

Just like they were in their matches with Manchester United and Atalanta, Liverpool were wasteful in front of goal against Palace.

The likes of Curtis Jones, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah all failed to convert big chances to level the match.

As a result, Liverpool remain third in the Premier League table as Klopp’s final season in charge at Anfield is at risk of ending with a whimper.

Reacting to the defeat, Liverpool fans have taken to social media to put forward a surprising name for Klopp’s replacement, in the shape of Villa boss Unai Emery.

One fan said: “Liverpool should be on the phone to Unai Emery’s agent tonight, what a job that man is doing, incredible.”

Another tweeted: “I’ll probably get slaughtered for this but I would give Unai Emery a go at Liverpool.”

A third fan added: “Maybe we need to consider Emery at Liverpool.”

Someone else wrote: “Surprised Unai Emery hasn't been mentioned in the Liverpool manager conversation.”

A fifth commented: “Seriously won’t mind Unai Emery at Liverpool next season.”

Emery’s Villa kept Liverpool’s hopes of winning the Premier League alive after they managed to win 2-0 against the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium.

Late goals from Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins were enough for Emery to stun his former employers.

Reigning champions City were the big winners from the weekend as they now sit top of the table, two points clear of Arsenal and Liverpool.
