Fans have decoded a 'frustrated' message from Liverpool star Darwin Nunez after his side's 2-1 win over Fulham in the Carabao Cup.

Goals from Curtis Jones and Cody Gakpo secured the victory for Liverpool, after Willian had put Fulham ahead in the first half.

But it was Nunez who perhaps provided the game's biggest impact, coming off the bench to register two assists.

Incredibly, the contribution takes the forward's assist tally in all competitions this season to 10, an indication of how much his game has evolved since arriving at Anfield.

Nunez hit top form in the goalscoring department earlier this season, netting seven goals in 11 appearances.

But since the last goal of that spell - in the 2-1 Carabao Cup win over Bournemouth on November 1 - the Uruguay international has scored only once at club level.

It certainly isn't for the want of trying, with Nunez consistently putting himself in promising attacking positions, but you could almost call it misfortune at this stage.

For instance, Nunez had a six-yard effort brilliantly saved by the onrushing Bernd Leno against Fulham, with the forward really unable to do much more in order to put the ball in the back of the net.

After the match, Liverpool uploaded a behind the scenes video to their social media platforms, which showed the reactions of Reds stars as they entered the dressing room.

While Nunez was clearly delighted that he could help his team to victory, fan account @LFCTransferRoom spotted what appeared to be a comment of frustration about his own goalscoring form.

The forward could be heard saying: "Loco, no quiere entrar la pelota nomas," which is translated as: "Crazy (or brother), the ball just doesn't want to go in."

Speaking after the match, manager Jurgen Klopp paid tribute to Nunez's performance against the Cottagers (quotes via Liverpool's official website): "He plays outstanding, I have to say it. So many things I really love about the game.

"He would have started tonight but he had cramps in the last game, so three days later you don't start a player.

"The boys don't start or not start because they score or not score. My belief and my trust in them is - as long as they behave properly - endless because they just deserve it because of the effort that they put in."
