Liverpool fans are getting excited after seeing summer signings Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai link up in training.

After the departures of James Milner, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and Naby Keita, it was clear that Liverpool were going to invest in their midfield department during the summer transfer window.

So far, Argentine World Cup winner Mac Allister and Hungary captain Szoboszlai have been secured.

The Anfield faithful will be delighted to see that they are already linking up together in training. You can watch the footage below.

As shown in the video, Mac Allister was played in on the right by Mohamed Salah before pulling the ball across the penalty area for Szoboszlai to tap into the net.

Fans were quick to react on social media.

One said: “Bro I can't put into words how different it feels going into a season knowing we've got midfielders that actually suit the roles we use and aren't just gonna shoehorn what we have into a half-baked system.”

Another tweeted: “I know it’s only a clip from pre-season training but we are so back”

A third fan added: “I was cheesing throughout the video like an idiot my god we’ve been DEPRIVED for so long.”

Someone else wrote: “By December we will be back to calling every Player in our Team Best in the world.”

Whilst a fifth commented: “Man it’s mad seeing a midfielder with movement again. Szobo is gonna be an absolute joy to watch.”

Another fan said: “If we could get a quality DM we'd be the only team in the league City would fear again.”

It looks like Liverpool’s midfield overhaul will continue after Jordan Henderson and Fabinho were linked with moves to Saudi Arabia in recent weeks.

Henderson is being tracked by Saudi Pro League side Al Ettifaq, who are managed by Reds legend Steven Gerrard.

Whilst Fabinho is reportedly discussing a move to Al Ittihad after the club offered £40 million for the Brazilian.

As a result, Liverpool have been linked with the likes of Romeo Lavia, Khephren Thuram, Ryan Gravenberch and Kalvin Phillips.
