Joe Rogan made awkward comment after seeing Lionel Messi play football for the first time

Joe Rogan is an expert in MMA and the host of the world’s most popular podcast, but it’s safe to say his knowledge of football is not a strong point.

Rogan, 57, is a man of many talents. He burst onto the scene as presenter of the popular reality TV show ‘Fear Factor’ in the late 1990s.

He has since branched out using his practical and theoretical knowledge of MMA, having been a UFC commentator since 1997.

And it is not just sports that Rogan has an interest in. He is a popular comedian who regularly sells out arenas all over the US.

However, he is arguably best known for his podcast, the ‘Joe Rogan Experience’, which he started in December 2009.

Since then, he has released over 2000 episodes, engaging in hours of debates and conversations with the likes of Elon Musk and US President Donald Trump to combat sports stars such as Tyson Fury and Israel Adesanya.

However, football – or soccer as Rogan calls it – is not something that the 57-year-old is overly familiar with. And this was apparent when he watched a video of Lionel Messi .

The American originally asked, “What’s that little dudes name?” before going on to call him a “technical wizard”.

“That guy… moves like a wizard,” Rogan said to his guest, Tom Segura, on JRE episode #885.

“What he is able to do with that is just f*****g astounding. You have to be so much better than people to do something like that.”

And despite having a lack of knowledge about the sport, the UFC commentator once dubbed soccer as the most “difficult sport” while talking to Bret Weinstein on JRE episode #1919.

"Soccer is particularly a difficult sport in terms of your cardiovascular function,” Rogan explained.

“Those guys are in f******g insane shape because you have to be. The amount of strain they’re sprinting.

"Austin has a soccer league, and I went to see it live. These guys have thoroughbred legs. They are in insane shape.

"As a person who works out, watching the demand that's required to the body, to be able to perform that way, sprinting constantly... I was really impressed."
