Fans noticed one thing before Lionel Messi arrived at Inter Miami training for the first time

On Saturday Inter Miami confirmed the arrival of Messi on a two-and-a-half contract, with an option to extend by a further year in 2026. The club tweeted a video of Messi wearing the No 10 shirt, as seen below.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner announced in June that he had opted to move to the MLS following his Paris Saint-Germain exit, despite interest from ex-club Barcelona and Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal.

Of course, it was an open secret that Messi would sign for Miami. Indeed, hours before he was announced the Argentina star appeared to arrive for his first Inter Miami training session, offering up a quick wave at fans outside as he headed in to meet his new teammates.

Messi is expected to receive a huge reception when he is presented to his new club’s fans on Sunday. The Mail Online have even claimed he’ll be joined by former Barcelona teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alaba, who will also be presented in front of the fans as new signings.

The spectacle, which has been labelled “The Unveil”, will reportedly include entertainment, with the arena’s capacity to be expanded by 3,000 to help cope with demand.

Messi will then make his debut for Miami on July 21 against Cruz Azul in The Leagues Cup.

Messi runs red light

Messi has spent the last week or so adjusting to American life in Florida. And on Friday he was spotted in a car that ran a red light.

While the Argentina captain was being escorted by Fort Lauderdale police on Friday, his car drove through a red light into a busy intersection.

Thankfully, other drivers were alert during the incident and veered away from Messi’s vehicle, which then turned left as intended.

It is not known if Messi was behind the wheel, but the former Barcelona and PSG star was said to be in the car, with the incident caught on camera by Argentinian TV channel TyC Sports.

On the video, one fan tweeted: “This could have been so bad.”

Another simply tweeted three laughing emojis.

A third added: “The police have their lights on the other cars should've stopped.”
