Lionel Messi's former team-mate and World Cup winner has already asked David Beckham for Inter Miami move

Lionel Messi's former team-mate and World Cup winner has already asked David Beckham for Inter Miami move

Messi could soon be joined by another ex-Barcelona team-mate.

Another of Lionel Messi's former team-mates at Barcelona has already confirmed to David Beckham that he would be interested in a move to Inter Miami.

After Messi's high-profile arrival in the States in July, he has been joined at Inter Miami by a litany of former Barcelona stars.

Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba signed for Beckham's MLS franchise shortly after Messi, with the trio helping their new club to win the 2023 Leagues Cup.

And earlier in December, it was confirmed that former Barca striker Luis Suarez would be moving to Miami, the Uruguayan having left Brazilian side Gremio on a free transfer.

Right-back and midfielder Sergi Roberto, whose contract at Camp Nou expires in the summer, has also been linked with a move Stateside, but nothing has yet transpired.

And another of Messi's team-mates could soon be joining up with the Argentinian legend - but maybe not in the immediate future.

The player in question is Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann, who won the World Cup with France in 2018 and is currently one of the best forwards on the planet.

Although his big-money move to Barca didn't exactly go to plan, Griezmann has shone across two spells with Atletico.

Last season, he scored 15 goals and provided 16 assists in La Liga, while he has 16 goals in 24 games in all competitions this term.

Speaking in 2020, the now 32-year-old revealed his desire to play in the MLS - having previously admitted that he idolised Beckham when he was a player.

He told the LA Times: "Winning La Liga and the Champions League with Barca would be a dream, and also my objective.

"After that, winning whatever comes. There's another World Cup, so the World Cup in Qatar [France were runners-up].

"And after that, MLS. I don't know with which team, but I really want to play there. For me it's an objective to end my career in the United States, with the possibility of playing well and being part of the team and fighting for a title."

On his support of Beckham - Griezmann wears a long-sleeved shirt and the same number as a tribute to the Manchester United icon - he revealed in 2019: "This midfielder was a true pop star of football.

"Through his looks and his manner, he was also prized in the worlds of advertising. And he's my absolute role model. He is the only one I would have loved to play with."
