Laura Woods was pied by Erik ten Hag on TNT Sport after Manchester United’s dramatic Champions League win over Copenhagen.

Andre Onana saved a stoppage-time penalty as United secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Copenhagen on a night Old Trafford paid tribute to club legend Sir Bobby Charlton, who died on Saturday at the age of 86.

The much-derided Harry Maguire found the net in the 72nd minute to give United the lead, only for the Danish side to be awarded a penalty in the closing stages of injury time.

However, Jordan Larsson, son of the former United player Henrik, saw his spot-kick saved with what proved to be the final kick of the game.

And after the encounter Ten Hag joined the TNT team who were pitch side to discuss the victory, with the Dutchman’s subsequent departure quickly taking an awkward turn.

After Ten Hag had discussed the victory with Woods and former United stars Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes he shook hands with the former players.

Woods too, left out an outstretched hand in anticipation of a handshake. Having seemingly been left hanging however the broadcaster smiled and shook the air in response.

Spotting the awkward incident, Scholes laughed as Woods said she'd been “pied completely.”

Thankfully, Ten Hag, who remained oblivious, came and shook the TNT presenter's hand.

Retweeting the moment upon the end of the coverage, Woodsy captioned the incident with three pie emojis.

Moreover, on Instagram, commenting on TNT’s clip of the ‘pie’, she wrote: “Crushing”.
