Reports in Spain claim that Lamine Yamal's dad has been discharged from hospital after being stabbed.

According to La Vanguardia newspaper, the father of the Barcelona star - Mounir Nasraoui - was stabbed in a car park in the Catalonian town of Mataro on the evening of Wednesday, August 14.

Yamal's father was reportedly transferred to Cani Ruti hospital in Badalona in a 'serious' condition.

Spanish outlet Relevo has since reported that Nasraoui has been discharged and is currently recovering at home.

According to the report, local police are currently working to establish what exactly happened and why Yamal's father was the victim, and have approached witnesses who saw the attack unfold.

Nasraoui is regularly spotted at his son's games, and he was in Germany to see the teenager star for Spain.

The 35-year-old was present to see Yamal help Spain win the European Championship title by beating England in the final in Berlin.

UEFA name Yamal the best young player of the tournament, while his dad has previously declared that the young superstar could "be greater than [Lionel] Messi."
