Fans spot concerning Kylian Mbappe pattern after disappointing La Liga debut

Fans have pointed out a concerning Kylian Mbappe pattern during his La Liga debut for Real Madrid.

After months of speculation, French superstar Mbappe ditched Paris Saint Germain for Madrid this summer.

Since then, the 25-year-old has already won his first trophy with Los Blancos after he netted in a 2-0 win over Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup final last week.

On Sunday night, Mbappe made his La Liga debut at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix against RCD Mallorca.

Rodrygo gave Madrid the lead in the 13th minute but Vedat Muriqi’s goal in the second half meant Mallorca came away with a 1-1 draw.

During the match, fans took to social media to point out that Mbappe, along with Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo were all drifting to the left-hand side of the attack.

Posting a screenshot from the match, one fan said: “They all want to play LW.”

Another tweeted: “The LW overload is crazy …. Vini Mbappe and Rodrygo no get sense.”

A third fan added: “Maybe have 3 x LW starting isn’t going to work. Let’s start Arda Guler with Vini and Mbappe.”

However, Madrid’s goal did come down the left-hand side, with Mbappe, Vinicius and Rodrygo all playing a part.

A fan commented: “Mbappé, Vinicius Jr, Bellingham and Rodrygo all on the left side and we still scored.”

Someone else wrote: “This one goes out to all the haters, the doubters and the non-believers.”

Another added: “That's elite foreplay. Beautiful beautiful football from Real Madrid.”

Speaking after the match, Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti said: “We got off to a good start, taking the lead and then had a chance to get the second goal. We didn't find the balance in the second half. We could have lost as there was no balance at the back. It wasn't a good game. We need to defend better. We're a very attacking team, but defensive balance is a fundamental factor.

“I was happy with some of the draws last season, but not today because we could have done a lot better. I don't want to make excuses for anything, but we just need to do better and with a better attitude. We can learn a lot from this match. It's quite clear where our problems could come from.”

On Vinicius and Mbappe’s position, Ancelotti said: “They change position from time to time. Sometimes Mbappé plays more centrally and sometimes one of the two has to occupy this flank, without a particular plan. It depends on how they feel about it.”
