The real reason why Kylian Mbappe missed France training revealed amid Euro 2024 injury fears

The real reason why Kylian Mbappe missed France training revealed amid Euro 2024 injury fears

Mbappe missed France training on Saturday.

The real reason why Kylian Mbappe missed a France training session ahead of Euro 2024 has been revealed by a new report.

Mbappe has been France's captain since March 2023, when he replaced Hugo Lloris after the goalkeeper's international retirement.

The new Real Madrid signing is expected to play a significant role at this summer's Euro 2024, with France's campaign getting underway on Monday, June 17.

But there were fears that he may have suffered an injury when he missed France training on Saturday - with some suggesting he may have suffered a muscle problem.

The concern added to a growing list of issues for Les Bleus manager Didier Deschamps, with Kingsley Coman, Aurelien Tchouameni and Adrien Rabiot all suffering with fitness issues.

France take on Canada on Sunday in their final Euro 2024 warmup match, with reports claiming that Mbappe was pencilled in to play some part.

However, L'Equipe's Giovanni Castaldi has downplayed fears that Mbappe's fitness for the tournament is at risk.

He say that the 25-year-old has been suffering from a back issue, and was withdrawn from training as a precaution ahead of the Canada clash.

The report re-iterates that Mbappe was scheduled to play against Canada, but that a 'last-minute decision' will be made over whether he is involved or not.

However, it is claimed that his participation in France's opening group stage game of the Euros against Austria is 'not in doubt'.

His involvement in the tournament will take place weeks after it was confirmed that Mbappe will complete a stunning free transfer to Real Madrid once his PSG contract expires on July 1.

In a statement on social media, Mbappe wrote: "A dream come true. So happy and proud to join the club of my dream, Real Madrid.

"Nobody can understand how excited I am right now. Can't wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support. Hala Madrid!"
