Kobbie Mainoo has been offered a shock international allegiance switch following his rise to stardom at Manchester United.

Mainoo continues to impress in a Man United as he scored his side's winner against Wolves on Thursday.

He produced a moment of magic deep, deep into stoppage to bag a last gasp goal to secure a huge 4-3 win at Molinuex.

Fans online loved his post-match interview as he spoke with such maturity for an 18-year-old.

Mainoo has played 12 games in all competitions for Man United this season, scoring in his last two appearances.

England supporters are calling for him to be included in Gareth Southgate's plans for Euro 2024 this summer.

Mainoo, who has represented England at youth level, however, is attracting interest from Ghana, who want the youngster to represent the African nation instead.

The budding midfielder qualifies to represent Ghana through his parents, with the player regularly visiting the country during his time off.

According to The Times, the Ghana FA think they have a chance of persuading Mainoo to play for them even though he has turned out for England at under-17, under-18 and under-19 level.

Randy Abbey, a member of the executive council of Ghana FA, said: "The Ghana Football Association is interested in monitoring, attracting, and persuading all eligible talents for its various national teams.

"Kobbie is definitely one of such incredible talents, and the Association will love to work with him and many like him home and abroad."

It's suggested that Ghana are on the hunt for a talisman after what Abbey described as a 'disastrous' Africa Cup of Nations campaign in which they failed to reach the knockout stage.

Mainoo would seemingly fit the bill considering his ascent to stardom at Man United this season.

He continues to impress Erik ten Hag, who was full of praise for the youngster.

Speaking after his side's dramatic victory over Wolves, he said: "I think for a neutral fan, spectator of this game, it was great to see but as a manager when you see you dominate a game for an hour, you should go 3 or 4-0 by the hour, because we had the chances and we conceded nothing.

"But then the way we concede the goals we should manage that better on the pitch, this can’t happen.

"But then you see the spirit of the team and the resilience and especially in Kobbie Mainoo, that is great to see.

"We have the right character, the spirit in the dressing room is very good when you can show this."
