Jurgen Klopp's yearly salary in new role at Red Bull has emerged

Jurgen Klopp will earn an eight-figure salary in his first role since leaving Liverpool in the summer, according to a new report.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Klopp would become the Head of Global Soccer at energy drink company Red Bull from January 1, 2025 onwards.

In this role, the 57-year-old will oversee Red Bull’s international network of football clubs, which include RB Leipzig, New York Red Bulls and Red Bull Salzburg.

Klopp, who began his coaching career with Mainz 05 in 2001, will also support the organisation’s global scouting operation and contribute to the training and development of coaches.

It's fair to say the German is excited to start a new chapter in his life. “After almost 25 years on the sideline, I could not be more excited to get involved in a project like this,” he said.

Klopp is also keen on helping Red Bull develop, improve and support the talent they have at their disposal.

"I see my role primarily as a mentor for the coaches and management of the Red Bull clubs but ultimately I am one part of an organisation that is unique, innovative and forward looking," he added. "As I said, this could not excite me more.”

Since the news emerged, Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg has provided further details on Klopp's role, including his eye-watering salary of around €10-12 million per year.

This contract is believed to be long-term but he reportedly has been assured that he can leave his contract at Red Bull if there is an attractive, concrete offer elsewhere.

Plettenberg also suggests that a return to a coaching position is currently "not an option" for Klopp, although the German national team job would be an option if it cropped up.

On Wednesday, the former Liverpool manager opened up on his new role in an Instagram video.

"Some of you might have heard already, some of you haven't, from 1 January 2025 I will be head of Global Soccer of Red Bull," he said.

"Really looking forward to that. A few months ago I said I don't see myself on the sideline anymore and it is still the case.

"But I still love football and working and Red Bull gives me the perfect platform for that.

"I want to share my experience which I collected over the years and we all know there are more successful managers out there.

"In my career I fought for promotion, fought against relegation and fought for titles and trophies. Sometimes we failed and sometimes we succeeded and dealing with that is not easy.

"I want to learn again because when you're in the job and you have to play every three days, you barely have time for that.

"And now I have time and I have opportunity. And I want to see and figure out what is useful for football - developing football a little bit as well.

"Really looking forward to it but now I go back on holiday. See you in January."
