Jose Mourinho's early exit from AS Roma came as a surprise to most across the footballing world.

The 60-year-old departed after two-and-a-half years at the helm, having led the Serie A outfit to a Europa League final just last season.

However, it has now emerged that 'The Special One' held private talks regarding a potential move to Saudi Arabia, but only one condition.

According to The Mirror, the former Chelsea boss was all set to head to Saudi 2nd division side Al Qadsiah, if they were promoted to the Pro League this season.

Formerly managed by Robbie Fowler, ex-Sevilla boss Michel is now at the helm and after 18 matches played, Qadsiah lead the way on 40 points.

Now Mourinho has departed from Roma, there was some discussion he could step in to take over.

Spanish boss Michel is rumoured to be merely keeping the seat warm as they prepare for the 60-year-old next season, should their plan come to fruition.

Jose's next step has continued to dominate the conversation, with Newcastle United and Napoli two potential destinations that have been touted.

There is also the promise of landing an international job, something Mourinho is yet to delve into during his trophy-laden coaching career.

In typical fashion, the former Real Madrid boss isn't giving much away regarding his next move, stating back in December he is happy to see what comes of potential offers.

“This is a hypothetical question and I won’t answer," he told Sky Italia prior to his departure in Italy.

"At the moment there is nothing, it’s just ‘if, if, if’. I was very happy with the closeness of the club on this occasion.

"I can’t tell you all the times I speak with the club, the relationship is excellent but we haven’t discussed our future.”
