Jobe Bellingham saw a huge increase in his salary when he signed a five-year deal at Borussia Dortmund last week and the sums of money involved are staggering.
Jobe, 19, made the switch from Sunderland to Borussia Dortmund last week, and made his debut for the German side during their 0-0 draw in the Club World Cup group stage against Fluminense on Tuesday (June 17).
Of course, it’s hard to judge the player’s impact based on a second-half substitute appearance, but fans and media still gave their thoughts on Jobe’s debut.

German outlet BILD wrote: “Bellingham, in front of his parents, Mark and Denise, immediately demonstrates English toughness after coming on. The midfielder demands and distributes the ball. With England's U21 international (and fellow substitute Nmecha), the game gets a bit more structure.”

It is not totally clear what role the England Under-21 international will play in Nico Kovac’s side, but he will still be paid handsomely for his efforts regardless.
According to Capology’s information, Jobe earned £12,500 per week, or £650,000 per year, during the 2024/25 campaign with Sunderland.

But his salary has increased by around 558% since he penned his deal at Dortmund.
According to German outlet BILD, his salary is now €3m (£2.57m) per year, but that can increase to €5m (£4.27 m) with bonus payments - although it is unclear what targets need to be met in order for this to be triggered.
The lesser amount spread across 52 weeks is £49,357 per week, while the larger amount is £82,262 per week.
It must be noted that the wage is an estimate and has not been confirmed by Borussia Dortmund Football Club or the player.

Jobe is well down the list of the club’s top earners, with the highest-earner Niklas Sule reportedly earning around €10m during the 2024/25 campaign.

After Tuesday’s game, Jobe took to Instagram and posted several photographs of his debut, accompanied by a caption, which read: “Very proud to have my debut in black & yellow. Big games coming up.. Just the beginning."
Jobe and Dortmund will return to action against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday, 21 June, before they take on Ulsan on Wednesday, 25 June.
