Joao Felix's shock favourite English club revealed as Xavi makes decision on Barcelona striker's future

Joao Felix's shock favourite English club revealed as Xavi makes decision on Barcelona striker's future

The English team Joao Felix supports are now in the Championship.

Joao Felix made a surprising choice when asked to name his favourite club in England.

The 24-year-old joined Barcelona on loan from Atletico Madrid last summer in a move expected to relaunch his career.

He started promisingly and chipped in with important goals against Real Betis, Atletico and Valencia.

But his recent performances have dipped in recent weeks, with Xavi having doubts over his future, according to Spanish outlet El Chiringuito.

Felix will likely be linked with a move to the Premier League, having previously attracted the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag's Man United reportedly held talks with the Portuguese international as Jorge Mendes touched base with the Red Devils to discuss a potential transfer.

Had he completed a switch to Old Trafford, his choice of favourite English team would not have gone down too well with Man United supporters.

In an interview with Adri Contreras, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, Felix revealed his support for Leeds United.

It's unclear what his connection to Leeds is, if any, but it is unlikely that he will seek a move to Elland Road, with the Yorkshire-based club currently in the Championship.

Felix, who spent the second half of the 2022/23 season on loan at Chelsea, has played 22 games in all competitions for the Catalan giants, scoring six goals.

But Xavi does not want to sign him on a permanent deal in the summer.

Felix played in his side's narrow Copa del Rey win over Barbastro, but his performance was slammed by the club's former defender Abelardo, who took aim at the player's attitude.

"The worst thing is not the mistakes João Félix makes, but the attitude he shows after the mistake. He is static... That bad image he gives," he said.

"You lose the ball, so go and get it, fight for it. He doesn’t do that."
