Jamie Carragher hits back at Man Utd fan over Jurgen Klopp 'three season' comments

Jamie Carragher hits back at Man Utd fan over Jurgen Klopp 'three season' comments

Jamie Carragher fired back at a Manchester United fan on social media following his comments about Erik ten Hag.

Jamie Carragher has furiously hit back at a Manchester United fan over Jurgen Klopp following his comments about Erik ten Hag.

Carragher wrote a piece about Ten Hag ahead of Man United's big Premier League showdown against Tottenham on Sunday.

He suggested the pressure in on the Dutchman following Sir Jim Ratcliffe's 25 per cent purchase of the club while highlighting an 'extraordinary' fact.

Carragher's piece, naturally, got Man United fans online talking as one X user compared Ten Hag to Klopp's first three seasons at Liverpool.

The fan wrote: "Klopp first 3 seasons ?..ETH barely into his second with a trophy already?"

The Liverpool legend didn't appreciate Klopp being mentioned as he fired back, claiming the German boss has been 'fantastic from day one'.

On X, Carragher replied: "Two cup finals in year one. CL Qualification year two. CL final year three.

"People have got to stop using this Klopp argument to defend their own managers. Klopp has been fantastic from day one."

The 45-year-old continued his rant as he compared the spending of Ten Hag and Klopp, referencing Liverpool's free transfer of Steven Caulker.

He also joked that '99 per cent' of Liverpool fans want Ten Hag to stay.

In another post on X, Carragher wrote: "Man United fans coming back at me over this! ETH spent about 250M in his first summer, Klopp came in October & bought Stephen Caulker in January on a free!! This is not a debate about the managers between supporters as 99% of LFC fans want ETH too stay!!!!"

Pressure is mounting on Ten Hag, who has lost 14 of his 29 games in charge this season.

Man United currently occupy eighth place in the league, with 31 points to their name.

They're nine points adrift of fourth-placed Arsenal and eight points behind Sunday's opponents Spurs.
