The match between Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain was instantly stopped after Jamal Musiala suffered what looked like a horrifying injury.

On Saturday afternoon, German giants Bayern took on Champions League winners PSG in the quarter-final of the newly revamped FIFA Club World Cup.

Towards the end of the first half, Musiala was beaten to the ball inside the penalty area by PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The young German was left on the deck, visibly upset and screaming in pain after what looked like a horrible lower leg injury.

Donnarumma was then seen with his hand on his face as he realised Musiala's injury looked very serious.

Reporting on the match live via a blog, the BBC wrote: "There is serious concern for Jamal Musiala here as he is injured after coming together with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

"Donnarumma is distraught and so are the other PSG players and Musiala's Bayern Munich team-mates.

"A stretcher has been brought on to help the Germany international off the field and that will be the final action of the half."

Reacting on social media, one fan said: "OHHHH NOO....... THIS IS NOT LOOKING GOOD FOR MUSIALA....."

Another tweeted: "I really hope that’s not a bad injury for Musiala."

A third fan added: "Man I don’t even care about the tournament anymore."

Someone else wrote: "That looked bad. Hope he’s okay."

A fifth commented: "This is terrible."

The half-time whistle was blown shortly after but a number of Bayern players were seen staying on the pitch as they looked concerned over Musiala's injury.

At the start of the second half, Musiala was replaced by fellow German international Serg Gnabry after the 22-year-old was taken off by a stretcher.

Musiala has been one of Bayern's most important players in recent seasons after producing a string of impressive performances.

Back in February, the German signed a new deal with the Bavarian club, he said: "I'm really happy. I took my first steps in professional football here and firmly believe we can achieve something big with this club in the coming years.

"I feel at home both in Munich and at the club with our great fans. We've got a lot of things we want to achieve."
