Study compares Gvardiol, Dias, Van Dijk, Saliba and Varane against each other, there's a clear winner

A study has compared Josko Gvardiol, Ruben Dias, Virgil van Dijk, William Saliba and Raphael Varane against each other and there's a clear winner.

Manchester City are on the verge of securing the services of Gvardiol from RB Leipzig after agreeing a deal in the region of £77 million.

Once the transfer gets over the line, Pep Guardiola will boast another superstar defender, with the likes of Dias and John Stone at his disposal.

In moving to the Premier League, the Croatian international will come face-to-face with fellow star centre-backs like Van Dijk, Saliba and Varane, among others.

How does Gvardiol compare against Dias, Van Dijk, Salbia and Varane? Well, a study has measured the Premier League players in a study, seemingly revealing a winner.

Based on their 'Opta Performance Index' rating, the soon-to-be Man City player comes out on top ahead of Dias, Van Dijk, Saliba and Varane.

The 22-year-old has an impressive score of 4.2 while Diaz has a score of 2.9. Van Dijk, Varane and Saliba all have a score of 2.5.

Of course, the numbers factored in have been sampled from Germany's Bundesliga while Van Dijk, Dias, Saliba and Varane performed in England's top flight.

Dias has the most touches per 90 minutes and boasts a 92.71 per cent 'Pass Accuracy'.

The comparison highlights the new Liverpool captain's ability in the air as he has a 73.68 per cent 'Aerial Duel Success'.

Arsenal's commanding Frenchman excels in 'Ball Recoveries', with a score of 7.7. He also has a 65.88 per cent 'Ground Duel Success'.
