A fascinating study has compared Declan Rice, Rodri, Casemiro, Moises Caicedo and Thomas Partey against each other and there's a clear winner.

Rice, Rodri, Casemiro, Caicedo and Partey are among the best central midfielders in the Premier League as they starred for their respective teams last season.

Rodri produced heroics in the middle of the park as Manchester City won a famous treble, with Partey also performing brilliantly during Arsenal's title charge.

Casemiro enjoyed a stellar debut campaign in England's top flight while Caicedo enhanced his reputation following his showings for Brighton.

Rice also shone as the West Ham United captain nears a move to Arsenal in a deal worth more than £100 million.

But how do they compare against each other? Well, a study has measured the Premier League talents in a study, seemingly revealing a winner.

Based on their 'Opta Performance Index' rating, the Manchester United man comes out on top ahead of Rodri and Partey, followed by Rice and Caicedo.

The 31-year-old Brazilian also boasts a better rating in the 'Forward Passes', 'Duel Contested' and 'Tackles Made' departments.

Man City's Spaniard has a greater 'Ball Recoveries' and 'Aerial Duel Success' rating than his counterparts.

Rice comes out on top in terms of 'Ground Duel Success' and 'Interceptions'.

The England midfielder, meanwhile, has been the subject of intense transfer speculation and appears set to leave West Ham for Arsenal.

Man City had tabled an offer worth up to £90 million, which was rejected by the Hammers.

The Gunners have since bid £105 million, which has seen the Blues pull out of the race to sign the player.

Who's the best central midfielder in the Premier League? Let us know.
