A footballer has suffered one of the most horrifying injuries of all-time during a match in the Honduran top division.
Romario da Silva, a midfielder from Brazil who plays for Motagua, suffered a devastating ankle injury while chasing the ball in the 56th minute in his side's match against Olancho FC.
He collided with an opposition defender and twisted awkwardly, with his left ankle appearing to get caught in the turf before the weight of his right ankle landed on it.
Da Silva began screaming in pain and his worried team-mates immediately gestured that he needed urgent treatment.

After the medical staff arrived on the pitch, a barrier was erected around the stricken player as he was treated and placed on a stretcher.
Footage showed a number of his team-mates in tears, with one being consoled by a member of the Motagua coaching staff.

El Heraldo, one of the leading media outlets in Honduras, report that Da Silva was transported to hospital and has undergone a successful initial surgery.
He has been diagnosed with a fracture-dislocation of the fibula, and had his ankle cleaned due to 'debris in the bone'.
He is set to undergo a second surgery 'which aims to repair the capsule, the deltoid ligament, and fix the fibula with plates and screws'.
The striker will miss a significant amount of time due to the injury, with an absence of at least six months expected, and it is unclear as to whether he will play professional football again.
In an official statement, Motagua confirmed the midfielder's injury diagnosis and the fact that he underwent a 'cleaning procedure'.
They add that a second procedure will be carried out on Friday.
"If no contamination is found in the affected area, surgery will be scheduled for Sunday, May 17," the statement continues.
"We appreciate the concern and support shown towards Romario, and we reaffirm our commitment to the health and wellbeing of all our footballers."
