Fans have been left stunned after seeing what Fluminense posted on social media following their stunning win over Inter Milan.

On Monday, Brazilian side Fluminense were up against Champions League finalist Inter inside the Bank of America Stadium as the pair battled for a place in the FIFA Club World Cup quarter-finals.

Perhaps to the surprise of many fans, Fluminense came away with a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from German Cano and Hercules.

As a result, the Brazilian club will now take on Al Hilal in the last eight, after the Saudi Arabian side delivered a shock of their own by beating Premier League giants Manchester City.

They wrote: "Hi, @Botafogo! Hi, @Flamengo! How's the weather in Rio????"

The tweet was a clear dig at both teams crashing out of the Club World Cup, Botafogo were beaten by Palmeiras and Flamengo were eliminated by Bayern Munich.

Reacting in the comments section, one fan said: "These Brazilian clubs have no mercy between each other."

Another tweeted: "Especially that Flamengo...ask them again."

A third fan added: "South American teams are so good at trolling , Europe club needs to learn from."

Someone else wrote: "Europe has a lot to learn."

A fifth commented: "Botafogo and Flamengo will be patiently waiting for a generational cooking if Fluminense loses."

Earlier on in the tournament, Flamengo was spotted aiming cheeky digs at Premier League giants Chelsea after the Brazilian side recorded a famous 3-1 win in the group stage.

At the time, the team's social media account referred to the Premier League side as 'London Blues' and the Chelsea badge on the graphic was also replaced with the crest used on the football video game, PES.

Speaking after the match, Fluminense captain Thiago Silva, who was in tears when the final whistle sounded, said: "I'm very proud with my team, with my team-mates. This game is like this, too hard to play against the Inter team, you know? They played the Champions League final a month ago.

"It is not easy to play like this. It's too hot today to play football. The time is not good, but it is like this. Fluminense are a big team."

Inter captain Lautaro Martinez said: "It was very hot, we were tired mentally, we were missing lots of players. I apologise to the fans and everyone who came here to watch us. Now we must focus on rest and preparing for next season in the best way."
