Djed Spence has celebrity older sister most England fans have no idea about

Djed Spence and his England teammates are set to face Norway in the World Cup quarter-finals and as fans attempt to cheer them on to victory, the Tottenham Hotspur star’s celebrity older sister is bound to be one of them.

The 25-year-old has featured in every World Cup match for Thomas Tuchel’s side this tournament, demonstrating how important he is to the team.

Spence has operated in both fullback positions across the five matches, and he made some vital challenges late on against Mexico to help the team progress to the quarterfinal.

While the Spurs defender has been a name mentioned by many fans throughout the World Cup, supporters may not be aware that he is related to a celebrity.

His older sister is Karla-Simone Spence, and she is a British actress and voiceover artist, featuring in some notable projects.

The 29-year-old is best known for her roles in Blue Story and the ITVX period drama The Confessions of Frannie Langton.

She has also featured in the BBC series Gold Digger and Wannabe, while she played Haydee in The Count of Monte Cristo alongside Sam Claflin.

Karla-Simone Spence has explained previously that she discovered her love for acting when she was 11 years old after she starred as Joseph in Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat in her primary school's production, when her brother would have been only seven years old.

Djed Spence signed his first professional contract with Middlesbrough in 2018, two years after his sister had embarked upon her acting career, with her breakout role coming in the same year as that move from the Fulham academy.

He spent four years in the northeast of England; he moved back to the capital in 2022 when he signed for Tottenham Hotspur, spending several years on loan since his move to White Hart Lane.

Now, he has made 12 caps for England, becoming the first Muslim player to receive a call-up to the senior men's team when he joined the team in August 2025, making his debut against Serbia just days later in a World Cup qualifying match.
