Gianni Infantino has revealed the role that Donald Trump will play in the trophy ceremony at the World Cup final on July 19 in New Jersey.
The FIFA president made an appearance on Fox News, and in this interview, he revealed what the president of the United States would be doing at the final of the competition.
Trump has yet to make an appearance at the World Cup so far to watch his nation compete, with the United States winning twice in as many games so far in their home tournament.
He was not in attendance for the opening game of the US’s campaign when they beat Paraguay 4-1 as he was preparing to make an appearance at UFC Freedom 250, which was taking place at the White House to celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States.

Trump is not expected to make an appearance at the World Cup until the final, and his role is set to be a major one at this event, as revealed by Infantino.

The FIFA president said: “We will be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together.”
So, Trump is expected to hand the trophy to the winning team and be part of the celebrations, similar to how he was involved in the Club World Cup presentation award to Chelsea last summer.
This appears to be an altering of recent tradition, as neither Russian President Vladimir Putin nor Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani were involved when France or Argentina won in 2018 or 2022, respectively.
It may be considered fitting by Infantino that the holder of the FIFA Peace Prize hands the World Cup to the winners of the competition, and the current individual to hold this honour is Trump, with the American president becoming the inaugural awardee when he was gifted it in December.
