The Netherlands have made another late change to their squad ahead of Euro 2024.

Heading into the tournament, which will begin on Friday with host nation Germany taking on Scotland at the Allianz Arena, the Netherlands are amongst the favourites to go deep into the competition.

However, Ronald Koeman has been hit with not one, but three major injury blows ahead of their first match against Poland on Sunday afternoon.

Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong and Atalanta player Teun Koopmeiners have both been ruled out of Euro 2024 due to their respective injuries. Chelsea player Ian Maatsen, who spent the 23/24 season on loan at German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund received a call-up earlier in the week.

On Wednesday, it was reported that striker Brian Brobbey is also struggling with his fitness.

As a result, Koeman has called up Bologna frontman Joshua Zirkzee to his squad.

Writing on social media, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano said: “After Ian Maatsen to replace de Jong, Joshua Zirkzee has been called up by Dutch national team to replace Brobbey.

“AC Milan remain locked in talks with his agents, meanwhile Zirkzee will travel to Germany and be part of Netherlands squad for Euro 2024.”

Zirkzee has also been linked with a move to the Premier League, with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United reportedly interested.

As reported by Sky Sports, the two Premier League giants are keeping a close eye on the situation.

The report stated that the 23-year-old has a release clause of around £34 million inserted within his Bologna contract.
