Jose Mourinho has offered his predictions for the Euros this summer and he believes England will perform well.

The 2024 European Championships get underway this weekend as hosts Germany start the tournament by welcoming Scotland to their fourth-ever Euros.

England head into the tournament as favourites to lift the trophy, after losing to Italy on penalties in the 2020 Euros final.

The Three Lions’ campaign starts on Sunday as they face Serbia at 8pm BST in Arena AufSchalke, home of the second-tier German side Schalke.

But Mourinho doesn’t believe that Gareth Southgate will lead England to their first trophy in 58 years this summer.

Speaking on the TNT Sports Instagram account, Mourinho predicted his home nation Portugal to lift the trophy, eight years after doing so in the 2016 Euros.

He anticipates more disappointment for English fans, believing that their side will once again fall at the final hurdle and be the runners-up for Euro 2024.

When asked for a team that could potentially be surprise winners, he said: “Anyone outside Portugal, France and England because I think these 3 are the favourites.

“So, for me anyone that comes outside these 3, even countries like Germany.”

Other than England, the bookies favourites to win Euro 2024 are France, Germany, Portugal and Spain.

While he didn’t believe England would win the tournament, when asked about individual trophies, the newly appointed Fenerbache manager predicted success for England’s star-studded team.

Having managed him for 17 months at Tottenham Hotspur, Mourinho predicts England captain Harry Kane will take home the golden boot award this summer.

The Portuguese manager also believes that an English player will win the player of the tournament award, with young talent Jude Bellingham his pick for the trophy.

Mourinho also had his say on this year’s ballon d’or, saying that Bellingham’s Real Madrid teammate Vinicius Jr will win the 2024 award, having helped the club to their historic 15th Champions league and 36th La Liga trophies.

Kylian Mbappe is the favourite to win both the golden boot and player of the tournament awards this summer, while Vinicius remains the favourite to claim the ballon d’or.
