England Wonderkid Weighs Up Shock International Switch Before 2026 World Cup

An England youngster could switch nations before the 2026 World Cup.

A highly-rated England youngster is reportedly in talks to switch international allegiance.

Over the years, England have produced some of the best players in world football, including the likes of Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, David Beckham and John Terry.

Meanwhile, current England boss Thomas Tuchel has a plethora of talented players to pick from as he prepares to lead the Three Lions to the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States of America, Mexico and Canada.

However, Tuchel could be handed a significant blow as one highly rated youngster is reportedly in talks to switch his international allegiance.

As reported by the BBC, Tottenham Hotspur's 18-year-old forward Mikey Moore, who is currently on loan at Rangers, has held talks with Wales.

Moore, who has played for England at U-19 level, qualifies to play for Wales through a grandparent.

The report stated: "Sources have told BBC Sport Wales that the Football Association of Wales has contacted Moore, with men's head coach Craig Bellamy among those to have spoken to him."

Moore made his Spurs debut at the age of just 16 years and 277 days, becoming the club's youngest Premier League player.

He is also the youngest English scorer in a major European competition, after netting in the Europa League last season to break Jimmy Greaves' record.

Speaking about Moore, Spurs striker Dominic Solanke previously said: "He’s a really talented boy, very direct and a good winger. So I think he’s got a bright future as well."

James Maddison said of Moore's performance against AZ Alkmaar last season: "From minute 45 to 65 I thought we had Neymar on the left wing.

"He was brilliant, demanding the ball, fearless, with that young fearless mentality and you never want to take that away from him."

Moore would not be the first player to switch from England to Wales, with David Brooks and Jordan James having done so previously.

Players are allowed to switch international allegiance if they have played no more than three competitive matches at senior level before turning 21.
