The 2026 Goal of the Year may just have been scored, with a CENTRE-BACK in the Moroccan league scoring an unbelievable rabona from outside of the area.
Rabonas are already special, but rabonas from this far out really don't come along all that often. And rabonas from this far out scored by centre-backs simply don't happen.
So, yes, we're calling it right now: Driss El Jabali has scored what will surely be a strong contender for the 2026 Puskás Award.
Awarded in December for the most spectacular goal from the previous season, so 2025-26 in this case, the Puskás Award was established by FIFA in 2009 and has gone to players from outside the major leagues on several occasions.

Mohd Faiz Subri won it for a free-kick in the Malaysia Super League in 2016, and Dániel Zsóri got it for an overhead kick in Hungary in 2019, while amputee footballer Marcin Oleksy received it in 2022.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and James Rodriguez are among the more high-profile winners, but nominations can be and are made from both men and women leagues all over the world.
And if this effort from El Jabali doesn't make the shortlist for 2026, well, we riot.
The award is named after legendary Hungarian striker Ferenc Puskás, widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, and the scorer of dozens of outstanding goals for Real Madrid and the Hungary national team.
Nominations are whittled down to a shortlist of 10 each year, with two voting groups - fans and a panel of FIFA Legends – picking their first, second and third choices for the prize.
Points are awarded to nominees depending on where they are placed, with five points for first, three for second and one for third, with selections from the two groups each accounting for 50 percent of the total vote.
Last year's winner was Santiago Montiel, pictured, for another overhead kick for Argentinian outfit Independiente against Independiente Rivadavia.
