Dele Alli signed for Serie A side Como in January in the hope of getting his career back on track.
However, things have not gone entirely to plan for the England international.
He has only made a single appearance for the club since his arrival and has been on the fringes of the first-team squad ever since.
Dele's cameo against AC Milan in the league was one to forget for the 29-year-old as he was shown a red card despite coming on as a substitute in the 81st minute.

He has not made any other appearances on the pitch since then, with reports from The Sun suggesting that he has been frozen out of Cesc Fàbregas’ squad.
Sadly, the same article suggests that the former Tottenham and Everton midfielder has considered retiring from football altogether after failing to make an impression since moving to Italy in an attempt to revive his career.

It would be a sad end for a player who promised so much when he first burst onto the scene at Tottenham under Mauricio Pochettino.

And following on from reports that he has been frozen out by Fabregas at Como, Alli has provided a rare update on his Instagram account.
Contrary to reports that he is close to hanging up his boots, Dele appeared happy in the image, smiling and giving a peace sign to the camera with his hands.
Best of all though, he also provided a caption that suggests that he is still working hard to make a return to the pitch.
“Keep smiling and grinding,” read the caption.

Dele joined Tottenham from MK Dons in 2015 and caught the eye with a series of excellent performances in the 2015/2016 Premier League season as he initially flourished at Spurs.
However, over time his influence on the team and playing time decreased, paving the way for an ill-fated move to Everton in January 2022.
While at Goodison Park, he was sent on loan to Besiktas but was eventually released by The Toffees after his loan was canceled by the Turkish giants and his career has unravelled ever since.

But his first social media post in over a month would appear to indicate happier times could yet be ahead for Alli, whether that's at Como or not.
