Fans think Declan Rice aimed a subtle dig at Paul Scholes after spotting his comment on Bukayo Saka's social media post.

England are through to the semi-finals of Euro 2024 after edging past Switzerland on penalties.

Cole Palmer, Jude Bellingham, Saka, Ivan Toney and Trent Alexander-Arnold all scored their spot-kicks as the Three Lions won the shootout 5-3, with Jordan Pickford saving Manuel Akanji's penalty as the goalkeeper was stopped from doing his 'usual process' by the match referee.

After the match, fans spotted England's genius plan during the penalty shootout.

Despite England securing their spot in the last four of the tournament, they've been subject to fierce criticism from fans and critics alike.

Scholes has been vocal in his criticism of the England team, having previously slammed Arsenal midfielder Rice.

The Manchester United legend has also referenced Saka, who delivered a stunning performance against Switzerland.

On his Instagram story, Scholes wrote: "Mainoo will make you play, Foden and Bellingham will win you games, think forward and take less touches please Dec [Declan Rice]. Laters [kissing emoji]."

He added: "Keep hearing drop Bellingham back next to Rice... p*** right off!!!"

Scholes continued: "Making me p*** these Arsenal legends trying to get [Bukayo] Saka in at left-back because they're afraid he's gonna be left out for Palmer [crying laughing emoji]."

Well, since Scholes' comments, England have advanced to the semi-finals of Euro 2024 and are just one game away from booking their spot in the final.

And fans are convinced Rice responded to Scholes' criticism with his comment on Saka's Instagram post.

He wrote: "Blah Blah," accompanied with a speaking head emoji.

Arsenal supporters reckon Rice was taking a swipe at Scholes.

One X user wrote: "100% Scholes he’s the only one that disrespected them both, our fans saying it’s at wrighty don’t understand how much he loves arsenal and Saka."

A second tweeted: "International failures like Scholes were telling them how to play."

A third added: "Think they saw Scholes’ stories."

Another commented: "Scholes gone quiet."
