One lucky punter has won thousands of pounds after Crystal Palace's win over Manchester City.

On Saturday afternoon, Palace won their first major trophy in their history as Eberechi Eze scored the winner in the FA Cup final against City.

As a result of their 1-0 win at Wembley, the Eagles will play in Europe next season.

Taking to social media, one fan posted a screenshot of his bet.

The fan had a £5 stake but ended up winning more than £7300.

Palace's win, along with victories for the likes of Osasuna, Charlton, Athletic Club, Barcelona and Livingston plus a draw between Rayo Vallecano and Real Betis managed to earn the punter a huge win.

Reacting on social media, one fan replied: "Love that, was it a prediction palace would win or score first and freeze it?"

The fan simply replied: "That was the plan."

Another fan tweeted: "Well done son."

A third added: "Get in lad, how quickly did you freeze the palace game after they scored?" The punter responded with: "2.3 seconds."

Reacting to Palace's historic win, manager Oliver Glasner said: "I can’t believe it. We had to defend so much. The spirit and togetherness on the pitch was amazing.

"Tomorrow’s training is already cancelled. The players want to cancel Monday too. Special credit to the players, they’ve never lost belief in me and the coaching staff."

He added: "If you play this game 10 times, we win it once and that happened today. We scored the first time we were in their half and then we defended with every single phase of the body and a great goalkeeper, a great mentality and togetherness. I’m really proud of the team and the staff – congratulations, all the credit goes to them."

Palace are back in action on Tuesday night when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Selhurst Park.
