Craig Bellamy fired back at Sky Sports presenter David Jones over a comment he made during a tense moment on Monday Night Football.

Bellamy, who played for the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, joined Jamie Carragher on MNF for Leicester City vs. Newcastle United.

The ex-forward enjoyed a decorated career in the Premier League, scoring 81 goals.

The proud Welshman finished his career with boyhood club Cardiff City before moving into coaching and management.

He began his coaching career at Cardiff before being becoming the under-21 manager for Belgian side Anderlecht following the appointment of former Man City teammate Vincent Kompany as manager.

Bellamy worked as an assistant to Kompany before the pair linked up at Burnley, with the 45-year-old landing the Wales job in the summer of 2024.

Following Newcastle's 3-0 victory over Leicester, Bellamy spoke about his position with the national team and his thoughts on management.

During his chat with Jones, he was involved in an awkward exchange after the Sky host called Wales a 'small footballing nation'.

He said: "You go into a smaller footballing nation..."

To which Bellamy replied: "No... I disagree with that."

Carragher hilariously chimed in: "Start that again, Dave!"

Jones then worded his question differently, saying: "You go into a 'big' footballing nation... it's a proud footballing nation but it wouldn't be classified as a high achieving [nation]..."

Bellamy replied by bringing up Wales' Euro 2016 campaign, where they secured a spot in the semi-finals before refuting the suggestion that Wales are 'underdogs'.

He said: "I've never looked myself as an underdog, and I never will do now - and I won't allow the players to believe that.

"We're there on merit, and I know the points you're trying to make, but you understand the fact that I will not buy into it."

Asked about 'changing the culture' at Wales, Bellamy added: "It's a culture that... we're proud, a lot of the nations are proud.

"Football is a huge part of our culture as well, I know we're definitely proud of the rugby, but football is a huge game in our country.

"What we've been able to build over the last number of years and that's previous managers, but also Together Stronger [Wales mantra], there's a real connection between the fans and the players, and also with the players and the fans."
