Chelsea fans have called out the club after spotting how one player reacted to qualifying for next season's Champions League.

As the final day of the 2024/2025 Premier League season came to a close, Chelsea's crucial win over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground secured their spot in next season's Champions League.

Having entered into the match as underdogs, Chelsea pulled off the win thanks to a goal from unlikely hero Levi Colwill, taking them to fourth in the Premier League table.

As expected, the whole Chelsea team were clearly ecstatic with the season-defining win, as seen in several videos of them celebrating in the away changing room after the game.

But fans on social media have called out the club, claiming that the celebrations of Reece James in particular shows how much the club has changed in recent years.

In a video shared on X, James appears to be much more subdued compared to his teammates as they all partied to celebrate earning a spot in Europe's top competition.

Reacting to the clip, one fan wrote: "Reece James nonchalant gimmick he has to hide in what his clubs become now."

In the replies, the fan added: "Don’t blame him tbf he won the competition his current teammates are celebrating for qualifying in. Chelsea has become social media fc man."

Another fan agreed, writing: "Will I get called a hater for saying those celebrations are way ott. Reece James defo getting the ick."

While one stated: "Can’t imagine winning the champions league and watching your teammates celebrating like this."

Of the 20 players named as Chelsea's squad for the match against Nottingham Forest, James was the only one who was also a part of the squad that beat Manchester City in the 2021 Champions League final.

In fact, the England international was the only senior player within Sunday's squad who was even at Chelsea for the 2020-21 season.

Although Sunday's win at the City Ground is perhaps Chelsea's biggest win of the season, they will need to step up once again when they face Real Betis in the Conference League on Wednesday night.
