Moises Caicedo momentarily announced a shock departure on Instagram before the post was later deleted.

After impressing at Brighton and Hove Albion, Caicedo completed a then-British record transfer to Chelsea worth a reported fee of £115 million.

The 23-year-old had signed an eight-year deal with the option of an extra year, and has become one of Enzo Maresca's most important players.

So far, Caicedo has made 107 appearances for the Stamford Bridge club, scoring six goals.

The Ecuador international has lifted the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup as a Chelsea player.

On Monday, Caicedo sparked confusion after releasing a statement on his social media account, only to later delete the post.

According to talkSPORT, the midfielder announced he had split from his agent in a statement released by his lawyer.

The statement suggested that Caicedo is no longer represented by Manuel Sierra of Football Division Worldwide.

It read: "Chelsea Football Club star Moises Caicedo has separated from and is no longer represented by his former agent Manuel Sierra of Football Division Worldwide and he is not represented by Ali Barat of Epic.

"The contract ended on August 14, 2025, and the player has now appointed people he can trust."

The report also stated that Sierra is understood to have acted as Caicedo's representative when he moved from Brighton to Chelsea two years ago.

SPORTbible has contacted Football Division Worldwide for comment.

After being labelled as the best holding midfielder in the world by former Blues star John Obi Mikel, Caicedo said: "I could name a lot of players, and I just want to work hard and do my best for my country.

"I don't like to say that I'm the best in the world; let the people say it. Thank you for the compliment, and it makes me work even harder."

Caicedo will be back in action this weekend when Chelsea resume the 25/26 Premier League campaign against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday afternoon.
