Chelsea players have reacted to the shock news of Mauricio Pochettino’s departure.

Pochettino’s departure from Stamford Bridge was confirmed on Tuesday evening.

A statement from the club read: “Chelsea FC can confirm that the Club and Mauricio Pochettino have mutually agreed to part ways. Jesus Perez, Miguel d’Agostino, Toni Jimenez and Sebastiano Pochettino have left the club with Mauricio.

“The Club will be making no further comment until such time as a new Head Coach is appointed.”

Reacting on social media, Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson posted a picture of him and Pochettino, with a caption that read: “Love you coach. Wish we could stay together more. But may God continue to bless you and your family.

“Thanks for the advices and support you’re a true lion and fighter wish you all the best.”

Fellow Chelsea man Moises Caicedo also took to social media to pay tribute to Pochettino.

The midfielder wrote: “Mister! It was a pleasure. I wish you all the best for the future! What a person and what a coach.”

On his exit from the club, Pochettino said: “Thank you to the Chelsea ownership group and Sporting Directors for the opportunity to be part of this football club's history. The Club is now well positioned to keep moving forward in the Premier League and Europe in the years to come.”

Pochettino was only appointed as Chelsea boss last summer, with the hope that he would be the man to lead the club back to glory.

However, Pochettino has largely failed to bring the best out of the players at his disposal.

Despite this, there were encouraging signs towards the end of the campaign as they went on a five-match winning streak to round off the season.

Chelsea will now be looking for their third permanent manager since Todd Boehly bought the club from Roman Abramovich two years ago.
