Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has riled up Chelsea fans by mocking their pursuit of Brighton star Moises Caicedo.

The transfer saga of Caicedo continues to rumble on, with the player turning down the chance to move to Anfield despite the club reaching a mega deal with Brighton.

Liverpool agreed a British-record worth £110 million with Brighton for Caicedo, who was set to travel to Merseyside to undergo a medical.

However, he was having second thoughts over a move to Liverpool this morning as he prefers a switch to the Stamford Bridge outfit.

Chelsea, who have had their own offers rebuffed by Brighton, are set to bid again in order to get a deal done for the Ecuadorian.

Responding to the latest regarding the 21-year-old, Carragher poked fun at Chelsea owner Todd Boehly.

He called the fee 'ridiculous' and said the American has 'lost his mind' in a post on social media.

"110M is a ridiculous amount of money to pay for a 21yr old, Boehly has lost his mind yet again," he tweeted.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino shared his thoughts on Caicedo, while Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Liverpool had a bid accepted by Brighton.

"I got told I can confirm the Moises Caicedo deal is agreed with the club," he said in his pre-match press conference on Friday.

"With the player, we will have to see. Medical today? I can’t tell you, I don’t know.

"We give it a go and the club have really stretched it to be honest."

Chelsea and Liverpool have locked horns over Caicedo, with both teams facing each other on Sunday in the opening weekend of the new Premier League season.

Which club will acquire Caicedo? Stay tuned.
