Moises Caicedo has made a decision on his next move, it's the most remarkable transfer saga in years

Liverpool agreed a British record transfer fee with Brighton for Moises Caicedo, but things appear to have taken a twist.

In another twist to this constantly-moving situation, Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo has reportedly made a decision about his next move.

It has been described as "the most incredible transfer saga of the summer" by Fabrizio Romano and we couldn't agree more.

Following weeks of speculation, it looked like this saga was all but done after Liverpool agreed a British record transfer fee of £111 million with Brighton for the Ecuador international.

Romano himself said on Thursday night that Caicedo would become a Liverpool player on Friday if all goes to plan.

And hours later, Jurgen Klopp confirmed in Friday's press conference that a deal was on. "I got told I can confirm that the deal with the club is agreed," he said. "Whatever that means exactly in the end we will see."

Hours later, however, the highly-rated midfielder appeared to be having "second thoughts" on his next destination, despite a medical being scheduled at Liverpool.

Shortly after Jurgen Klopp's press conference, Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth was told that the player was having second thoughts about a move to Anfield amid interest from Chelsea.

And now, with his representatives remaining in London, it appears Caicedo has informed Liverpool that he only wants to join Chelsea.

That's according to Fabrizio Romano, who says the midfielder has decided to keep his word and only accept Chelsea as personal terms were agreed in May.

Mauricio Pochettino's side are set to bid again in order to get deal done with Brighton. The Blues had an offer of £80 million rejected by Brighton last month.

"Chelsea are NOT giving up on Moises Caicedo deal despite medical booked," Romano added. "And Chelsea have no intention to give up until contracts (already prepared by Liverpool and Brighton) are signed."

Back in July, Caicedo said he would find it difficult to reject an offer from Chelsea.

"It's a big team, that's true. A very historic team which I can't say no [to joining] because it's a very big, historic, beautiful team," he told TC Deportes. "The city as well is beautiful. It's got everything beautiful."

Caicedo added, when asked about Chelsea’s interest: "What guy wouldn't want them to be talking about him?

"I know how to handle it. I don't get carried away by emotions. I'm enjoying time with my family for now. There is pressure, but I am calm. I am waiting for whatever God decides. He will know what is best for me."
