Chelsea are interested in signing a star player that would transfer Enzo Maresca's team.

Chelsea have already recruited their side ahead of the new season, having snapped up the likes of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town and Joao Pedro from Brighton.

Delap joined before the Club World Cup, while Pedro arrived during the tournament.

The Brazilian forward has made an instant impression, scoring a brace in his side's 2-0 win over Fluminense in Tuesday's semi-final.

The Blues resume their Club World Cup campaign on Sunday when they face Paris Saint-Germain in the final.

And ahead of their showdown in East Rutherford, New Jersey, Chelsea have been linked with a PSG star.

According to French outlet L'Equipe, Chelsea are interested in signing Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Per the report, Donnarumma is garnering attention from many clubs, including Chelsea, who are keeping tabs on the goalkeeper's contract situation.

The Italian's future remains unknown, with his existing deal set to expire at the end of the 2025/26 season.

Chelsea are looking at goalkeepers as they look to strengthen between the sticks, with the likes of Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen currently on their books.

Sanchez played 32 games in the Premier League last season, while Jorgensen made six league appearances and featured in his side's triumphant Conference League campaign.

Donnarumma would be a big upgrade from Sanchez and Jorgensen considering his status as one of the best goalkeepers in world football.

But Chelsea face stiff competition as Manchester City and Manchester United are also monitoring his contract situation.

Donnarumma would be available as a free transfer in less than 12 months if he doesn't sign a new deal at PSG.

The 26-year-old moved to PSG from AC Milan on a free transfer in the summer of 2021.

He has made 160 appearances across all competitions since joining the French giants and helped his team win the Champions League last season.
