Bernardo Silva's late goal kept City’s hopes of claiming a domestic double alive, with Pep Guardiola’s men securing a 1-0 FA Cup semi-final win over Chelsea.

City bounced back from their midweek Champions League penalty exit to Real Madrid, to set up an FA Cup final with one of Manchester United or Coventry.

The Blues, meanwhile, wasted a spate of good opportunities to score, and will now end the campaign trophyless.

After the game footage of veteran centre-back Silva in tears was circulating on social media.

Fans were quick to note that behind the Brazilian, his team-mate Noni Madueke appeared to be exchanging a joke with City winger Jack Grealish.

Writing on X, one fan said: “Madueke is pathetic.”

Another added: “Difference between generations in one video.”

A third said: “The mentality is different.”

A fourth wrote: “Madueke is so shameless,” while another added: “Epitomises why this children to glory gimmick that Beohly is trying to run will never work.”

After the game, Mauricio Pochettino told BBC One: "It is so easy to explain. We conceded in a moment you should not concede. We were not capable of being clinical in front of goal, we had many chances but we did not score.

"I think in the game we were a little bit better and deserved more, but it is not about deserving it, it is about being clinical and we were not today."

On whether the game demonstrates this season's issues, the Chelsea boss added: "No I think today we were playing a very good team in Manchester City.

“It wasn't easy but we were capable of playing a very good game, competing really well. Looking forward we want to build on this, sometimes you have these sorts of games on your journey and the important thing is to take the positives from it."
