Chelsea were crowned winners of the inaugural Premier League Summer Series after they beat Fulham at the FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland.

Mauricio Pochettino's side recorded a comfortable 2-0 win against their Premier League opponents on Sunday thanks to goals from Thiago Silva and Christopher Nkunku.

Despite it being a pre-season tournament, Chelsea fans will be encouraged following positive performances against Wrexham, Brighton and Newcastle.

And the addition of Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson, who has netted twice on their tour of America, has added some much-needed fire power in attacking areas.

But will they add another forward to their ranks before the summer window slams shut?

It was reported at the weekend that Chelsea could launch an audacious bid to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Daily Record claim the Blues are attempting to negotiate a cash-plus-player deal to bring Mbappe to the Premier League following interest from Real Madrid and Liverpool.

They also suggest PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has held direct discussions with Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly over a transfer.

With the Frenchman's future very much in the air, fans are convinced that Ben Chilwell mentioned Kylian Mbappe's name when they lifted the Premier League Summer Series trophy.

As you can see from the footage below, Chilwell appears to say, "And Mbappe ain’t here” as captain Reece James lifts the silverware.

Here's how social media reacted to the incident.

One fan said: "I heard that loud and clear," while another commented: "I didn't clock this last night. Begs the question - what does Ben know that we don't?"

A third wrote: "Proper weird thing to think of saying in the moment tbh… unless he knows something we don’t."

A fourth added: "The way Reece looked at him."

Last week, Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino remained tight-lipped when asked about the possibility of managing Mbappe again.

"In our past we were at PSG," he said ahead of the club's pre-season clash against Newcastle.

"I need to be conscious, I cannot talk because everything that you talk is too much noise, it is a very delicate situation and it is a situation they need to fix in Paris with Kylian, Kylian with PSG.

"But from our side, nothing to say. We are working in our reality, their reality is different - and they for sure have another reality. And from my side, nothing to say - only to support them and hope they find the best solution for both sides."
