Fans online slammed Rodri's 'arrogant' post-match interview following Manchester City's crushing defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Real beat Man City 4-3 on penalties after their quarter-final clash ended 4-4 on aggregate as Carlo Ancelotti broke a UEFA protocol.

Kevin De Bruyne netted in the 76th minute to cancel out Rodrygo's opener before the Etihad fixture went to a penalty shootout.

Luka Modric's penalty was stopped by Ederson, but people think he showed '1000 IQ' after missing his effort.

As for the Blues, Mateo Kovacic and Bernardo Silva fluffed their lines from the spot as the Spanish giants booked their spot in the next round of the competition.

Rodri didn't take a penalty, but he spoke to the press following his side's defeat as he hit out at Real. Check it out below:

"I saw only one team today, to be honest," he said. "They defended and they knew how to suffer, and we know how tough Real Madrid is. But, in my opinion, we should go through, in terms of chances and everything. It’s the trickiness of the competition. They know how to play, congratulations to them."

His comments on the game didn't go down well with fans on social media as they made feelings known.

One X user wrote: "The arrogance of these possession heavy sides as if there’s not more than one way to win a game of football..."

A second tweeted: "The audacity. The pretension that he's the sole protector of the sport."

A third added: "Imagine this guy played in a team that lost every week."

A fourth said: "This cry-baby said the exact same thing when Scotland beat Spain. He seems to think everyone should just lay down and let their opponents win."

A fifth commented: "Isn't this guy an Atletico Madrid graduate???"

It's not the first time Rodri has lost his cool after a defeat as he gave a similar interview after Scotland lost to Spain in a Euro qualifier.

He'll look to recompose himself ahead of Man City resuming their campaign on Saturday when they face Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final.
