Jamie Carragher explained how he is ‘disappointed’ by Mo Salah following the Egyptian’s comments after Liverpool’s 3-2 win at Southampton on Sunday.

Salah, 32, scored a brace to help the Reds go eight points clear of second-place Manchester City in the race for the Premier League.

However, it was Salah’s comments he made to reporters waiting in the ‘mixed zone’ that really made the headlines after full-time.

The Egyptian discussed his future with the gathered press pack.

"We are almost in December, and I haven't received any offers yet to stay in the club,” said Salah outside the Players Entrance at St Mary’s.

"I'm probably more out than in,” he admitted.

When reporters then questioned if he was disappointed by the current situation, the forward replied, “Of course”.

"I'm not going to retire soon, so I'm just playing, focusing on the season, and I'm trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well,” he added.

“I'm disappointed, but we will see."

Salah has been fairly open about his situation and addressed the situation after Liverpool’s 3-0 win away against Manchester United On September 1.

On that occasion, he revealed that it could be his last year at Liverpool and that it was “up to the club” regarding his future.

The goalscorer is one of three Liverpool players whose contracts are set to expire this summer, with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s futures still uncertain.

“I must say, I am very disappointed with Mo Salah,” Carragher said on Sky Sports’ MNF.

“[With] that interview yesterday…Liverpool have got Real Madrid midweek and Manchester City at the weekend – that’s the story for Liverpool right now.

“And Mo Salah, we’re all quite aware…that in the seven years he has been at the football club, he’s stopped in the mixed zone twice, which is his right, which is absolutely fine.

“But he decided to stop for the third time away at Southampton on the back of winning Liverpool the game.”

The former Liverpool defender admitted earlier in the show that he was “desperate” for the player and club to “meet in the middle” regarding Salah’s contract demands.
