French outlet L’Equipe has only handed out 20 10/10 ratings, with Fede Valverde becoming the latest addition to the select list for his match-winning performance during Real Madrid’s 3-0 victory over Manchester City in the Champions League on Wednesday (11 March). But what happened to the unfortunate player who received a brutal 0/10 rating from the outlet back in 2008?
As you may expect, Lionel Messi makes it onto L’Equipe’s 10/10 list, having scored all four goals in Barcelona’s 4-1 win over Arsenal in 2010 before receiving the same rating when he scored five goals in Barca’s 7-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen in 2012.
Brazilian icon Neymar received the coveted honour back in 2018 during his time at Paris Saint-Germain after he scored four times in the French giants’ 8-0 win against Dijon.
More recently, Désiré Doué earned a 10/10 rating for his glittering display during PSG’s 5-0 win over Inter Milan in the 2025 Champions League final.

While Inter full-back Federico Dimarco received a 1/10 rating for his torrid display in the same match, seven of his team-mates were deemed to have put in showings worthy of a lowly 2/10 rating.
But one man holds the unwanted title of being the only player to have put in a performance so poor that the French outlet judged it worthy of a degrading 0/10 rating.
Back in 2008, Brazilian midfielder Wendel received the lowest rating possible for a truly horrific performance for Bordeaux.
The 43-year-old was a mainstay in the side between 2006 and 2011 and even helped the French outfit to the Ligue 1 title under Laurent Blanc’s leadership in the 2008/09 season.
And despite the player likely looking back on the campaign as one of his career highlights, he will want to forget his performance away at Grenoble on 20 September 2008.

Bordeaux won the match 1-0 thanks to Jussiê’s late strike, which came after Wendel and Alou Diarra were sent off before Grenoble’s Martial Robin also received his marching orders shortly before the full-time whistle.
Wendel received a straight red card for raking his studs down the back of Albert Baning’s right leg, which caused the Grenoble player severe pain before medics rushed on.
The midfielder received a three-match ban for the challenge and a 0/10 L’Equipe rating.
But what came next, and where is he now?
As previously mentioned, Wendel remained in France until 2011, when he signed for Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad before joining Al-Shabab the following year in 2012.
Spells at Vasco da Gama, Sport Recife, Goiás, Ponte Preta and Náutico followed before he called time on his career in 2018.
These days, the Brazilian is working as a youth team coach at his boyhood club Cruzeiro.
