Carabao Cup second round draw: Chelsea draw League Two opposition, Tottenham face London derby

Carabao Cup second round draw: Chelsea draw League Two opposition, Tottenham face London derby

Chelsea and Tottenham are both in the pot.

Chelsea will take on League Two side AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup second round, while Fulham entertain Tottenham in a London derby.

The second round sees Premier League clubs enter the draw for the first time in this season's competition, with the 12 lowest-placed top flight sides from last term joining 36 EFL clubs in the pot.

Barring the first round tie between QPR and Norwich, which takes place next week, the draw made 17 matches official for round two.

Wrexham host fellow League Two side Bradford at the Racecourse Ground, while Everton face a trip to another League Two side in Doncaster.

Leeds travel to Salford in what could be one of the ties of the round, while Port Vale face Crewe in a hotly-anticipated derby.

That's all from us tonight

Thanks for joining us for tonight's Carabao Cup second round draw live blog.

Chelsea taking on League Two side AFC Wimbledon at Stamford Bridge is undoubtedly one of the ties of the round, whilst Fulham face Tottenham in a London derby.

Keep an eye out for Port Vale vs Crewe as well - one of the biggest rivalries in English football.

For Wrexham, it's an all-League Two clash against Mark Hughes' Bradford - with the Yorkshire club one that manager Phil Parkinson knows very well.

Have a good night.

More Carabao Cup coverage

Wrexham will hope to have Paul Mullin close to a full return by the time they take on Bradford - the side that manager Phil Parkinson took to the final in 2013.

Parkinson stated he couldn't get into contact with the striker after their win over Wigan - and Mullin reserved a funny response for his manager afterwards.

The goal of round one award, without doubt, went to Swansea's Josh Ginnelly, who netted a stunning 30-yard strike for his first goal in English football since leaving Preston North End in 2021.

Check it out here.

And Leicester are through to round two after their win over Burton. Their huge wage bill certainly towers over the League One side - and most other Championship sides, too.
