This week, the first major trophy of the season returned as Premier League sides enter the fray in the Carabao Cup.

On Wednesday night, Ruben Amorim's Red Devils suffered an embarrassing defeat as they were beaten on penalties by League Two side Grimsby.

Bryan Mbeumo missed the crucial spot kick as the Mariners sealed their place in the third round with a 12-11 victory (2-2 after 90 minutes).

Aside from Grimsby, teams like Everton, Brighton and Hove Albion and Fulham also booked their place in the next round.

As a reward for their heroics against United, Grimsby have been drawn against Championship side Sheffield Wednesday, who knocked out Leeds on Tuesday.
