Mikel Arteta immediately axes four Arsenal players after Liverpool defeat

It has been a busy deadline day for Arsenal.

Four players are set to leave Arsenal before the transfer window slams shut on Monday night.

It has been a busy summer of incomings for Mikel Arteta's side, with Martín Zubimendi, Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Nørgaard and Kepa all arriving on permanent deals.

Piero Hincapie is also close to becoming an Arsenal player after the club agreed a deal with Bayer Leverkusen for the highly-rated defender. He is set to join on a season-long loan with an option to buy for £45 million.

But it appears Hincapie will be their seventh and final signing of the summer, with Monday mainly consisting of outgoings for the North London club.

After being left out of their matchday squad for their clash against Liverpool last week, midfield duo Albert Sambi Lokonga and Fabio Vieira are on the verge of joining Bundesliga side Hamburg.

Lokonga is set to join on a permanent deal, according to The Athletic, while Vieira’s move would be a loan.

It also looks like Reiss Nelson is on the verge of leaving Arsenal, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the 25-year-old forward has agreed to join Brentford after turning down interest from around Europe.

Nelson, who only signed a new deal last year, informed Arsenal of his intention to explore opportunities elsewhere in June.

Earlier this summer, a number of Premier League clubs – including Crystal Palace, Fulham, Nottingham Forest and West Ham – expressed an interest in the winger, according to The Athletic.

Hincapie deal set to accelerate Jakub Kiwior departure

Kiwior, who has struggled to nail down a regular spot in Mikel Arteta's starting XI since arriving in January 2023, is close to joining Porto on a loan deal with an obligation to buy worth £24 million.

Last season, the defender started each of Arsenal's final nine games of the Premier League campaign. Mikel Arteta was full of praise for the player.

"Every time we need him he's always there, he's available and he does his job," the Spaniard said. "We ask him to play as a left centre-back, as a right centre-back, as a left full-back. He's ready, he's got a smile on his face."
