Gary Neville singles out 'terrible' Arsenal player in draw against Man City

Gary Neville took aim at one Arsenal player following their draw at Manchester City.

Gary Neville took aim at an Arsenal star following their hard-fought draw against Manchester City.

Man City and Arsenal played out a goalless draw at the Etihad on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola picked his new favourite following the stalemate.

A supercomputer has also named a new favourite following the result.

After the match, Neville singled out David Raya for criticism as he slammed one aspect of his game in his showing against Man City.

"Raya’s kicking has been terrible," he said on Sky Sports. "It’s not helping him that he keeps falling over as he kicks it.

"It’s been a strange first half. Neither manager will be happy with their quality on the ball. Maybe they are waiting for the other to make a mistake."

Raya stopped Nathan Ake from scoring in the first-half, but his distribution left a lot to be desired.

The 28-year-old has made 22 appearances in this season's Premier League campaign after taking over from Aaron Ramsdale.

In short, he has largely impressed but he still has his critics following some of his performances between the sticks.

He has, however, kept 10 clean sheets for Arsenal this season and is also the first opposition goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet at the Etihad since October 2021.

Raya also kept a clean sheet in the reverse fixture back in October, which they won 1-0.

On taking pride from two clean sheets against Man City this season, Mikel Arteta said: "Huge - it’s extremely difficult to do that but that tells you the commitment of every player, the discipline that they showed and how they compete.

"One thing is to play a football match and the other is to compete [in] it. Against this team, we did that today really, really well."

Raya is set to continue in goal when Arsenal resume their league campaign on Wednesday against Luton Town.
